This years Leinster Championship was hosted by Skerries Sailing Club as part of the Skerries Regatta and took place on the 9th & 10th of July. The Race Committee did well to get all 5 races completed, as light winds on Saturday meant only 2 races on day 1 with a forecast for even less wind the next day, luckily the wind did fill in and a competitive event was sailed.
Congratulations to convincing winners, with 3 race wins over the two days, 187 Zuleika, Derek Joyce crewed by Cillian Joyce and Bryan Fenlon of Wexford Harbour Boat Club. Second overall went to 131 Wild Wind of Rush Sailing Club, sailed by Paddy, Johnny and Mo Dillon. 3rd place went to another Rush boat 123 Vee, Jim Carthy with crew Muriel Carthy and Alan Butterly.
Huge thanks to Skerries Sailing Club, all the volunteers, committee, Race Officer Micheline Shiels and crew for hosting a fantastic weekend.
Our final event of the season is coming up, the Mermaid National Championships will be hosted this year by Foynes Yacht Club on the 3-6th August, with a practice race on Tuesday 2nd August to be confirmed, we hope to see as many boats there as possible!
